What the Credit Report API does

A credit report is the most complete picture of an individual's financial behaviour: active loans, repayment history, enquiries and defaults. The Credit Report API returns the score and a link to the full report, so lenders can underwrite and employers can assess financial exposure for sensitive roles without collecting documents.

Consent is mandatory and is captured in the flow. Profiden stores the consent record with the request and includes it in the case audit trail.

Consent is part of the contract

Explicit, informed consent from the individual is required before a credit report is pulled. The consent statement and timestamp are stored with every request.

Credit Report API: frequently asked questions

What teams ask before adding the Credit Report API to their integration.

The person must consent before the pull. Profiden can collect that consent through the candidate portal or you can capture it in your own flow and pass the record with the request.

Consent-based pulls of this kind are treated as soft enquiries by bureaus and do not affect the score the way a lender's hard enquiry does.

Yes, with consent and a legitimate purpose such as roles with financial responsibility. Profiden's workflows let you restrict the check to designated roles.
